How to Send a Red Packet
Tap the「+」button in the chat box. Choose「Red Packet」, enter an amount, and tap 「Send」. You can also check your Red Packet History by selecting「...」or change Red Packet cover.
How to Transfer Money
Tap the「+」button in the chat box. Choose「Transfer」, enter an amount, and tap「Transfer」.
Tip 1: I just accepted a Red Packet. Where is the money?
The money will be deposited into your WeChat Pay Balance. To check, go to the「Me」>「Pay and Services」>「Wallet」>「Balance」.
Tip 2: How can I top up my balance?
To add money to your balance, link a bank card to your WeChat Wallet. Only bank cards issued in China's mainland can be added. After linking the card, go to the Me tab and select:「Pay and Services」 > 「Wallet」 > 「Balance」 > 「Top Up」.
Tip 3: What if the "Red Packet" button is missing?
If the Red Packets feature isn’t available, it may be because WeChat Pay is not supported in your country.
To enable it: Switch your app language to Simplified Chinese. Ask a friend registered in China's mainland to send you a Red Packet. The feature should then become available.
