WeChat uses a local network to back up or restore your chat history, and no cellular data is used.
Here's what you can do:
- Check your network connection
Ensure your phone and computer are connected to the same network (router, personal hotspot or wireless card). Since the backup/restore process uses local networks only, it won't rely on cellular data.
- Check your firewall settings
On the computer, verify that WeChat for Windows/Mac is not blocked by the firewall. The back up/restore feature might not work properly if the network is complex or has restrictions set by the network administrator.
