In certain regions, regulators require obtaining consent from a parent or legal guardian before underage minors can use WeChat, in order to protect them. In these cases, payment card verification is used to confirm the consent of the parent or legal guardian for their child to use WeChat. WeChat supports most payment card types, including VISA, Mastercard, UnionPay, American Express, Discover, JCB, and more. When verifying a payment card, you may incur a temporary charge of up to 1 EUR (or the equivalent in your currency), which will be immediately refunded upon verification. Additionally, your payment card data is securely transmitted to our third-party European payment processor, Adyen, and will not be linked to your account or stored on WeChat's servers.
