How Can I Log In Using Other Methods If I Forgot My WeChat Password?

If You Forgot Your Password and Can’t Log In to Your WeChat Account, Try the Following Recovery Methods:

You can retrieve your account using the mobile number, email address, or QQ number previously linked to your WeChat account. Simply follow the instructions below:

 

1. Log In Using a Linked Mobile Number and SMS Verification Code

  1. Open the WeChat login page. Tap 「More」>「Log in to a Different Account」.
  2. On the mobile number login screen, select your country/region code and enter the mobile number linked to your WeChat account.
  3. Tap「Accept and Continue」, then tap the blue text「Log in via OTP Code」.
  4. Tap「Get OTP」. A code will be sent to your mobile number via SMS. Enter the code and tap 「Log In」.
  5. To ensure you receive the code, temporarily disable any security apps that may block unknown SMS messages. Also, make sure the number you provide is the one linked to your WeChat account.
    • If you're receiving the SMS outside of the number's home country, you may need to enable international roaming.

2. Retrieve Your Password via a Linked Email Address

  1. On the WeChat login page, tap「Unable to log in？」at the bottom.

  2. Tap「Linked Email」, then enter the email address linked to your WeChat account and tap 「Next」.

  3. A password reset email will be sent to the provided address. Follow the instructions in the email to reset your password.

  4. After resetting your password, go back to the WeChat login page and tap「More Options」> 「Log in to Another Account」> 「Log in via WeChat ID/QQ ID/Email」. Enter your linked email address and the new password to log in.

3. Log In Using a Linked QQ Account and Password

  1. Open the WeChat login page and tap「More Options」>「Log in to Another Account」.

  2. Tap「Log in via WeChat ID/QQ ID/Email」.

  3. Enter the QQ number and password linked to your WeChat account, then tap「Log In」.

    • Tip: If you’ve forgotten your QQ password, visit aq.qq.com on a computer to recover it.

4. Log In Using a Facebook Account

  1. On the WeChat login page, tap「More Options」>「Log in to Another Account」.

  2. Then tap「More Options」>「Log in via Facebook」.

  3. Enter the mobile number or email address associated with your Facebook account and your Facebook password, then tap「Log In」.
