The feature requires installing WeChat for Windows/Mac on your computer. Download and install WeChat for Windows/Mac at https://www.wechat.com/
To back up or restore your WeChat chat history through WeChat for Windows/Mac, follow these steps:
1. Back up your chat history:
- Ensure that both your mobile phone and computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open WeChat for Windows/Mac, and tap the icon in the lower-left corner >「Migrate and Backup」>「Backup and Restore」.
- On your mobile, select the chat history you want to back up and confirm to start the backup process.
- Do not disconnect from the network or close WeChat until the backup is completed.
2. Restore your chat history:
- Connect both your mobile phone and computer to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open WeChat for Windows/Mac, tap the icon in the lower-left corner >「Migrate and Backup」> 「Backup and Restore」>「Restore on phone」.
- Choose the chat history you want to restore and tap「Confirm」on your mobile to begin the restoration.
- Do not disconnect from the network or close WeChat until the restoration is complete.
Notes:
- Ensure both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network for the backup/restore process.
- You can save multiple chat history backups on your computer. Unwanted backups can be deleted.
- When restoring chat history, the backup will merge with the existing chat history on your mobile. It will not delete your current chats.
- WeChat version 6.3.31 or higher must be installed on your mobile device.
