If you received a notification stating that your payment is restricted and you are unable to make a payment, it is likely because you have not completed the real-name authentication process for WeChat Pay.
To comply with relevant laws and regulations, WeChat Pay requires real-name authentication for all users. For users who do not have a China's mainland ID card, you must provide identity information as part of the global, industry-standard "Know Your Customer" banking regulations designed to prevent fraud and illegal activities.
If you haven't completed the real-name authentication process, you will receive a notification when attempting to make a payment. To proceed with payments, tap the notification and provide the following information:
1. Identity Document (currently supports passport, China's mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR, or Taiwan residents)
2. Full Name (exactly as listed on your ID document, including capitalization and punctuation)
3. Mobile Phone Number
4. Address
5. Occupation
6. Photo of the ID used for verification
7. Clear Photo of Your Face
After providing valid information, your WeChat Pay account will be unfrozen and you will be able to make payments. As per regulations, WeChat Pay will store this information solely for identity verification purposes, and it will be kept highly confidential.
