Step-by-step guidance to create a WeChat Account

WeChat supports registration using mobile number or Facebook account. If you are using an iOS device, you can also register using your Apple ID.

• Sign Up via Mobile Number: Available under all conditions (first-time installation, logged-out state, or creating an additional account while logged in).
• Sign Up via Facebook / Apple ID: Available only in a logged-out state 

⚠️ Important: 

The verification code may be delivered via an automated voice call. To ensure you receive the call, please make sure foreign/international numbers are unblocked in your phone settings or third-party blocking apps.

Option 1: Sign up via mobile number
New to WeChat (App not installed or without WeChat account)

1. Open the WeChat app and tap "Sign up via Mobile" > "Sign up with Mobile".
2. Select your country/region code, enter your mobile number, and set a password.
3. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete registration.

Already logged in to WeChat (want to register a new account):

💡 Note: This path requires logging out of your current account first, rest assured that your chat history and data will not be lost — they can be restored again after logging back in.

1. Go to "Me" > Settings > Log Out.
2. On the login screen, tap "More" > "Sign up for a New Account".
3. Tap "Sign up via phone number".
4. Select your country/region code, enter your mobile number, and set a password.
5. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete registration.

Option 2: Sign up via Facebook

1. Open the WeChat app and tap "Sign up via Facebook" > "Sign up with Facebook".
2. WeChat redirects to Facebook to request permission to log in to WeChat — authorize the request.
3. Select your country/region code, enter your mobile number, and set a password.
4. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete registration.

Option 3: Sign up via Apple ID (iOS only)

1. Open the WeChat app and tap "Sign up with Apple".
2. Authorize with your Apple ID when prompted.
3. Select your country/region code, enter your mobile number, and set a password.
4. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete registration.
