If you suspect that your WeChat account has been compromised, follow these steps to regain control and secure it:
1. Attempt to Log In and Reset Your Password
Use your linked mobile number, email, or QQ ID to log in to WeChat.
Once logged in, immediately reset your password:
Go to「Me」>「Settings」>「Account Security」>「Password」.
2. Retrieve Your Password If Linked Information Is Unavailable
If your linked mobile number, email, or QQ ID has been changed or cannot be used:
Open WeChat >tap「Unable to log in?」> Request Account Recovery > follow the prompts.
3. Freeze Your Account for Immediate Security
If you cannot log in and suspect your account is being misused, freeze it to prevent further violations:
Open WeChat > tap 「More Options」>「WeChat Security Center」>「Safety Tools」>「Freeze Account」> follow the prompts.
Notes
- Freezing Your Account:
Your WeChat account will not be deleted; freezing temporarily secures it.
Friends can still find you in their Contacts and send you messages.
- After Regaining Access:
Unfreeze your account and secure it further:
Go to「Me」>「Settings」>「Account Security」>「Manage Devices」> tap「Edit」(top-right corner) to remove any unrecognized login devices.
